About us: 

In 1986 the amazing NY Mets baseball team was in the World Series! To get clear reception, to see the games, a sailor invented this marine TV antenna.  The Mets won an incredible, tight series, against the Boston Red Sox, 4 games to 3! 

 

Before Boatenna, sailboat owners had two choices for marine TV antennas: 

a) Mount a bulky powered plastic enclosed disc mounted somewhere on their mast 

      Expensive, bulky, adds windage 

b) Use rabbit ears - worthless! 

 

The first choice was expensive, difficult to install, and not relevant for a performance sailboat.  The second choice was inexpensive resulting in terrible reception. 

Boatenna was created to easily install on a sailboat taking advantage of a sailboat's halyard to raise the TV antenna high, necessary for optimum broadcast reception.

*over-the-air VHF/UHFstations will end broadcasting 2/17/2009.  The good news is Standard Definition SDTV and High Definition HDTV stations will be broadcast. No more snow or ghosting!!  Reception will be either all (perfect picture) or nothing ( no picture at all).  The reception range distance will be less, but when the picture is received, it will be perfect.  An antenna for over-the-air reception now becomes more important. Older TV can easily obtain a low cost adapter to receive SDTV only.  Look for US government issued coupons to save $$ on adapters.
